In fact, theres no perceptible difference from ts2 judging by the. I think I'd like a Sims game where the sims actually have emotions, and I can give my sim a huge butt. The Sims 2 will be a 10 year old game by the time TS4 comes out. The pretty looks of the sims are a booster no doubt, but after awhile.

This EP is pretty cool. Got it today and played it all afternoon and late into the evening. It offers quite a bit of interesting stuff. There are a couple of new career paths (i.e. Mixologist, Celebrity Actor, and Movie Director). LOTS of new objects, hair styles, young adult clothes. Hot tubs are back in this one. Indoor swimming pools. The ability for Sims to skinny dip. CAS has some new stuff too, including tattoos, and the ability to give more muscle definition as well as make women's chests bigger...not quite Dolly Pardon size but pretty big nonetheless..lol. There is also sexy nightwear for the ladies, sexy shoes, and sexy casual and formal outfits for nights out in the city. The new world included in the EP is a city full of skyscrapers with condos, apartments, and penthouse style suites to buy. There are also houses on the outskirts of town and plenty of space to place lots. The venues are combined in the high rises with plenty of places for Sims to find dancing and dining out. Vampires are in this EP also. Celebrity Sims are everywhere, too, but to get noticed by them beyond an autograph takes some effort. Your own Sims can gain celebrity status as well by pursuing the actor career. Celebrity status gives them stars over their name and makes other Sims oooh and ahhh over them wherever they go. There are also new additional traits to give Sims in CAS, new skills for them to learn and master, and new lifetime goals for them to achieve.
No crashes whatsoever this time...woohoo! Game play has been smooth, fluid, with many corrections of EA's past mistakes. Very pleased regarding that.
Overall I think this EP was worth it. More so than Ambitions. This one has a lot of neat stuff in it, new interactions, living environments, lifestyles....and it even includes the ability to hire an Executive Butler to wait on your Sim hand and foot :) I love the butler! The nightclubs are fun with lots of special effects type objects to add interest, as well as Sims dancing on top of the bar..I thought that was a cute feature. Some nightclubs are difficult to get into unless your Sim either 'knows someone' or has celebrity status or has certain traits. The bouncer that guards the door won't let just anybody in. Some don't have bouncers at the door, but might have a dress code, be it formal, casual, or beachwear. Sims will also get invites to parties hosted by other, computer controlled Sims. Invites can either be accepted or rejected but accepting them and attending has benefits. There are also more musical instruments to learn and master, and Sims can jam together...piano, bass, cello.
I'm really liking this one and glad I got it.

This is by far one of my favorite expansions for the sims 3. I love that the vampires are less Dracula like as they were in the sims 2. The newtown is beautiful and it reminds me of New York. I also love that you can start a band and play different instruments. There are so many different clothing, hair, items, and now there are even tattoos that you can personalize. The clubs are really nice and I enjoy it when my actor/actress sim comes back from work and says he/she got an award and that I can go pick it up at the theatre. I love the celebrity status and the high end venues. Great ep with lots of new content and new traits for your sims. Different music (there's now hip-hop) and different build mode items. I would recommend this to any Sims player :)

When I first received the game in the mail I wasted no time to install the content and start the game. I played for what seemed like hours before stopping.
*Neighborhood *
The layout of the newtown is wonderful, although glitchy at times. I enjoy playing with one or two Sims at a time in order to completely dominate in the sim world, buy property, and have residual income haha
I guess you can say I enjoy making money.
The cool thing about the neighborhood is that now i get to live in a sky rise and move through the town at night socializing, clubbing, and performing gigs (for my musically Inclined sims).
* New Social Interactions *
Impressing celebrities, rocking out with the band, ordering a round of drinks, and dancing on tables makes it a whole lot easier to schmooze and let loose and have fun which is GREAT!
The flip side to all of the new awesome added features on this EP is that I find myself wanting to have a family less and having a stronger desire to be a celebrity. But hey, isn't that the point after all =)

I ordered the Sims 3 Late Night expansion pack after it had been on the market for a couple months. One reason I waited to order this expansion was the fact that it just didn't impress me. I read the overviews and they just did nothing for me.
After reading some of the positve reviews other people left I decided to give this expansion a shot. I discovered a lot of things that were not really covered in the overviews.
PROS: New careers are decent, apartments are fun at times, the newtown is great, new abilities, decent amout of new furniture and clothing
CONS: Celebrity status is just ok, no new cars, subway system is slow, even after a patch the game is still glitchy, download not for Macs
I won't go into details on most of the items because it's fun to explore and find them on your own. What I will say is that this expansion adds hours of content.
My major issue right now that keeps this from being a 5 star expansion is the fact that it's glitchy. The animations are wonky at times. Elevators and subways are painfully slow. Sometimes it takes your sim an insane amount of time to do the next command you game them. Chances are EA will issue a patch to fix these issues. If you can ignore those issues this is a great expansion and a must have for any sims fan.

Yes, there arent many people in the clubs, but increasing the population of the town as a whole really helps.

I'm not so good at reviewing or critiquing, but I did enjoy this expansion so I thought I would say so. There are a good amount of new items/objects to choose from, and the newtown is also nice. Some of the new features annoyed me a little, for example your sim can be 'publicly disgraced' and get a negative moodlet for having a child out of wedlock which kinda' interferes with my own personal legacy/challenges, but it's not too bad and the moodlet goes away after a while. The vampires and celebrities are a neat touch, as are the bars and such. I'm not much into going out on the town in real life, but this is a fun little way for me to make up for that. =P

I was super excited for the expansion pack and I pre-ordered it awhile back. I love the newtown, the new places you can go, new clothes, hair, and other goodies. However, I have noticed that there are some bugs that take away from me fully enjoying this game. First of all, I think the mixology 'career' is bugged in my game. When I had my sim moonlight, he couldn't actually make drinks for anyone. People would come up to the bar and ask for drinks but it would immediately drop out of the queue. He would get paid for his work though (and it would count towards his goals), but the money wouldn't be added to the household funds. I also had a glitch with speech bubbles and not being able to see the effects from the effect machine but it was from a mod I had that was outdated.
So I would suggest removing all mods/custom content if you are having any strange glitches in your game. I played without mine and I was still getting the error with the mixology moonlighting, so that might be a different issue.
I still have been having tons of fun with this game though, and I'm sure they will come out with a patch to fix some of the issues, so I wouldn't let that keep you from getting the game if you have really been looking forward to it.

Ok so this expansion pack is AMAZING! All the new things to see and do, apartment living, celebrity status, and vampires made me fall in love with the Sims again! Bridgeport is such a fun town for your sims to explore and there are tons of new people to meet (and these townies, for once, are not ugly). I played late into the night, ignoring my homework, and had a fabulous time. I think this will probably be the highlight of all the Sims 3 expansion packs to come (sort of like Making Magic for The Sims and Free Time for Sims 2). BUT there is quite a bit of bugginess. Sims change into formal wear when traveling the subway, showers and elevator rides take hours instead of minutes, and by the time my sim is having fun at a club, it closes. My main problem was with slow time and lagging and my sim taking FOREVER to do normal activities. I went into the settings and turned all the visual effects and details down to low so the game would run faster. This helped a little but made my game look crappy in the process. I am eagerly awaiting the next patch and I hope EA fixes this time problem because I'm sick of my sim leaving the club at midnight and not getting back to her apartment till after 4. I still definitely recommend this though!

Evidently you have to create a new game to be able to use this expansion pack. If you currently have households you are playing, the newtown content from this expansion pack does not work. I won't be buying any Sims3 expansion packs in the future.

I have issues with this expansion pack, I really do. But I have to admit right off that bat that I always had fun playing it.
I loved and hated the newtown, Bridgeport. It was refreshing to see a city. I loved the layout and it was so pretty. But I really disliked living in the apartment buildings and penthouses. The majority of the premade ones in the game are lofts or 1 bedrooms. If I have a decent sized family or a family that is a set of parents and one child, I need more than 1 bedroom.
I actually dislike the celebrity aspect of the game. I hate the paparazzi hanging around your house (and sometimes coming into your home!) and the constant need limelight. Sometimes a false rumor will be spread about your Sim (like that you peed in public) and then you loose half of your friends. There is always prompts popping up from your 'agent' with opportunities so you can gain a higher celebrity status. Other Sims take photos of you and ask for your autograph. it's tiring! What I don't like is that is seems unavoidable to become a celebrity. It seems like if you become acquaintances or friends with one then you automatically become one yourself (why all of Bridgeport aren't celebrities then I don't know).
ETA: The day I wrote this up I found a way so you can disable your household from becoming celebrities.
The vampires were a love/hate thing. It's like cool I can be a vampire. I get hurt when in daylight, etc. But it's so easy. They have such a disadvantage really. The learn skills ridiculously fast; so fast you can reach level 10 in one night... one of their nights mind you).
I loved the night life aspect. The bars, dancing, bands, etc is brillant. Tons of fun. I can't get enough of it.
There were two major glitches I saw. One was the Prosper Room. For some reason, everyone would just stand at the elevator and yell and complain that they couldn't go up. No fixes could change this. Also, everyone (including regular Sims) had prolonged lives. Everyone just stopped aging after awhile, making the game not fun.

I don't know what it is - maybe that we're on the third series, and the third incarnation of the general theme of 'night out' with The Sims, but it seems like there's a growing sense of dissatisfaction with the game as a whole that is only exacerbated by each new expansion. That's not to say there still aren't hours of gameplay to be had with each expansion, but I'll be the first to admit I'm a little tired of the 'Hot Date' / 'Nightlife' / 'Late Night' theme that this pack is touting.
Of course there are some variations on the theme. For one, downtown is no longer a separate destination from the rest of your base city. The newtown that comes with the game, Bridgeport, is jam-packed with high-rise apartments, dance clubs, dive bars, and cocktail lounges, plus many of the other venues have been combined to make for a more condensed, urban experience. If you're not ready to move onto a newtown, you can also just snap up some pre-built buildings and place them in your existing town. In general Bridgeport is a cool place and all of the bars are pretty neat, each with their own vibe, although in general I think the dives and the dance clubs are the most fun. The high rises are different than what existed in TS2: Apartment Life in that your sim basically lives in a predefined space within an otherwise 'empty' apartment building. There are no longer multiple apartments on a single lot to manage, just your sim's place and their neighbours, who they can attempt to meet and befriend. In short, it's basically like living in a home in the sky.
'Late Night' also incorporates the 'celebrity' aspect of TS1 'Superstar' expansion pack. Your sim can work their way up the celebrity food chain mostly by befriending or dating celebs, which earns them discounts and freebies, public notoriety, and lurking paparazzo and scandals around every corner. Truthfully being a celebrity gets to be a bit tiresome, and the way you work your way up isn't nearly as fun as it was with 'Superstar', but the freebies and discounts are nice, as is the ability to breeze into any bar you want instead of having to waste an evening trying to get into one when your celeb level isn't high enough.
The non-Sim creature introduced this time around is the return of Vampires, which are by far the best 'creature' of the TS3 series and superior to the vampires of TS2. There are quite a few vampires lurking through Bridgeport and getting turned into one isn't much of a challenge at all. Once you're a vamp, they take on a Twilight-esque pale, phosphorescent appearance complete with shimmery eyes. Unlike being a mummy as in World Adventures, being a vampire and carrying on a normal life is pretty easy. Your sim can't really spend much time outdoors during the day, and they drink blood (either from the fridge or from a willing human friend), but other than that they can have jobs and babies, gain skills super fast, have some mind control abilities, and have the ability to run like the wind through town.
Beyond that, there is one new semi-traditional career, similar to the expanded doctor career that came about with Ambitions - acting. Your sim can also form a band and play gigs around town, learn the fine art of bartending and moonlight as a mixologist, or simply live off the spoils of being a celebrity through the various opportunities that come their way. There are tons of nice new clothing items for young adult and adult men and women, mostly themed around party clothing (including formal wear, as some bars require your bar to change into their formal gear). The new furniture is generally pretty modern to suit placement in the various bars around town, and the best new items are probably the professional bars (for learning mixology) or the various new instruments - bass, drums, and piano. It's tons of fun to have a jam session with four seasoned musicians, for the record. Hot tubs and custom-shaped pools are also welcome new additions in the build / buy modes.
Overall Late Night adds just enough that I can say I've been content to spend countless hours with the game since its release. It's nice that in comparison to the first two expansions, this is an expansion you can just sort of play and not have to shake up your current sims' entire life and career choices. Fans will be happy that not all venues are rabbit holes as they were previously, and there are enough new career options to explore that if you're stuck on playing with one family, you could easily spend a few generations getting to know the full expanse of the game. I feel like the game sort of offered up portions of past games - both from TS1, TS2, and TS3 - for a mix of different things that will appeal to various players - new skills, new career paths, new adventures, new design objects, and a new look and feel for towns. The result is a game that isn't particularly strong in any one area (as World Adventures was with the introduction of questing and Ambitions with 'professions'), but a decent expansion for your day to day gameplay.

This is by far the worst expansion pack ever. It has a lot of potential but without tons of mods it renders the game almost unplayable.
The elevators are non functioning to the point that they go so slow that all sims on the lot can/will die while waiting for the elevator. They get stuck and can't route around each other and the game lags and then eventually someone dies and the grim reaper shows up and the party sucks.
There is never anyone at the night clubs, even if you are at the hot spots, maybe only 5 or 6 sims show up. It is nothing like Downtown of back in the Sims 1 days. Also the 'dead clubs' on a Saturday night are very unrealistic.
The clubs are not very fun in general if you aren't a celebrity - even if you bribe or sneak past the bouncer, you can still get kicked out of the club which is not fun at all.
Speaking of celebrities, the game is saturated with them and it is so easy to become a celebrity it adds a huge level of unrealism to the game. Almost everyone is a celebrity after a while with story progression.
Celebrities are not just actors but random unemployed people - really annoying.
Also too many vampires. It seems like EVERYONE in town is a vampire or a celebrity. In real life, there are lots of normal people. Not EVERYONE is a vampire or a celebrity - or worse yet, the growing number of vampire celebrities! You could turn off story progression so people don't become vampire celebrities, but without turning it off, there are just so many of them that it's difficult to meet normal sims.
The new club items are pretty cool, the drinks are cool, the dancing moves on the table/bar are very realistic. It's the first time it seems sim dancing ever really copied real life dancing which I like. The KTHXBYE which is obviously an Adios makes the Sim's insane which is funny to watch. But they still can't do any romantic interactions with Sim's or take sims home or anything PG13 while drunk without being in a relationship with them or at least romantic interest, even really drunk sims will reject these interactions, which takes away the element of realism for the game (which, with a T rating, is surprising, so honestly just makes the game feel choppy and unfinished and uncreative and lazy).
The animation for the vampires floating above the coffin is sure proof that the game designers just did not want to be bothered making the animation of the sims climbing into the coffin and closing it which is sad.
They should have added a new wardrobe category, 'club attire,' because formal wear and club attire are not the same thing, but again it feels like this game was not beta tested at all and just released randomly.
And I'm not even getting into most of the bugs this game has.
All in all without a ton of mods, this is the worst expansion pack of all time.

I am in LOVE with this!

So I decided that if this game wasn't good enough for my tastes that I would just give up on the 3rd franchise and stick to what I was used to. The Sims 2.
After a few hours of playing the game I was absolutely hooked! New everything! I find it very, very fun how you can be a celebrity and how there are vampires again. It was just an upgraded version of Nightlife all in all. I loved this one. I think if there's another expansion pack after this that i might just buy that one too!
Some good Pros are
- You finally have the hot tub back ;]
- Sims can be celebrities
- Vampires
- New clothes and hair selections
- New Sliders (such as breast size adjuster, muscle enhancer)
- New Jobs (Film/Part-Time Film [ You can be an actor or a movie director basically ]
- New Fruit and things portraying to blood (For the lovely Vamps)
- New Places to woohoo!
- New Premade Houses
- NewTown
- New things in the town, such as *Studios. Lofts. Apartments etc.
- Butlers are back
Those are just the main things that I noticed while playing :]
A couple of Cons are
- Of course, its buggy :/
- Its useless to go to places with people in your house. Its hard to work with everyone.
- When you go to the bars and stuff if you have a weak computer the graphics are going to be slower to load
- And of course if you have mods you might have to take out some and replace then with the Late Night Version!
Overall this game is worth the money. I love it so far and I'll be sure to keep up with the franchise if it gets better like this~ Fantastic game. Only problem now is the price haha.

Positives:
This game is pretty much exactly the same as the sims 2 expansion pack. The vampires have new twists though: they don't live forever, they can 'drink' from other sims, they have special abilities, and their kids are born as vampires. You also learn skills faster this way. Their sunlight weakness is still present however.
Clubs were another thing added, with celebrities. It makes the game more fun if you enjoy social interactions with other sims and more opportunities. This will also limit which areas of the club you can get to, unless of course, you have enough money to slip the bouncer.
Negatives:
I'm not sure if it's just my computer, but the high-rise buildings can load painfully slow. And the newtown (bridgeport) which comes with the game is full of them! On the positive side, there are more sims this way, but loading time isn't all that great. Often my sims will have some animation issues with the door, in which they will freeze for a couple seconds and then keep walking. I think a lot of glitches came with this expansion, but if you play outside bridge port it shouldn't be that bad. But even bridgeport can be playable.
And my pc, is a toshiba satellite, 4gb ram, vista. Your pc may be fine if there is more ram and you have a good graphics card.
Overall:
I'd say this is the best expansion pack yet (even up to townlife stuff). It gives you the most content and game play.

Awesomeness

Best EP for Sims3, hands down. Just trying to chase the whole 'celebrity' status has been days of fun.
There are new professions, mixologist being my favorite because you can make lots of drinks that act like 'potions'
Old professions have been revamped to be more interactive.
Havent even touched on the vamps - maybe one day.
Forming groups is great and a great way to build relationships fast and keep people around when normally they'd wander off on you.
Clubs and VIP sections you need clout to get into. This EP is like (WA+Amb)*10
Now you can attend other people's parties
And now for the bad:
It takes like 2hrs to get out of/ go into apartments - and if you think you're going out for a late night on the town (with a group), you better start at like 2 in the afternoon cause travelling with groups if hucking forrible.
But once you understand you have to plan +5hrs ahead for any event, you get into the swing.
Buy a car and buy it fast - subway system is terribad
You're a budding celebrity, whether you like it or not. Like, 2hrs into your 1st day you'll get a call from your 'Agent' whether you are a cop, a politician or a bum on the street. Living a 'normal' life in Bridgeport is all but impossible....speaking of celebrities
Fame - yep you'll get it, alot of it. Like when you're out on the town with your group and cant get off 3 consecutive actions before you are barraged with autograph requests, cell phone photos and papparazzi stalking you.
(Ok maybe the fame aint so bad, but it can be very annoying when you set up actions, leave your sim then come back to realize he hasnt done any of them because he's been signing autographs for 30 mins...now the club is closing or something).
This is by far the best EP for S3 but the drawbacks (timing on groups, elevator travel) can be serious buzzkills until you learn how to overplan for them

First Impressions

I waited with baited breath for this expansion to come out for the past 2 months and it's finally here. Anyone who regularly plays the Sims will want this expansions pack as it gives your Sims something different to do. My first impressions from playing the game last night is that overall this is a good expansion pack and things I like and don't like:
What I like:
1. Bridgeport is a beautiful small city with a lot to see and experience.
2. Nice new music.
3. A new selection of hair, beards, and outfits to choose from and some new architectural elements.
4. Hot tubs are back and there are new pool options.
What I don't like:
1. Unlike the Sim and Sim 2 you can't send your suburban Sims out for a night in the city. They
either need to move to Bridgeport (which is essentially starting your household from scratch)or
start a new game. Why this is so I have no idea as I don't think it would be different than
sending them on vacation--but it does ruin the seamless continuity of the Sim's world they live
in.
2. Not into the vampire thing. I think that they should create a Halloween Town expansion for those
who want more monsters to play with, which could also have witches, werewolves and other creepy
settings. Those not into such things could then opt out.
3. Apparently one can add some social venues to exiting towns via the edit town screen, but I rarely do this.
It would, however, be necessary to take up jobs like mixology, etc. I'd have perferred the option of just
sending my Sims to Bridgeport instead. If I want my Sims to do these things I'll just start new games in
Bridgeport instead, I don't like to edit the towns too much.
A must have for Sim enthusiasts.

This expansion pack brings some new things to do to the Sims 3, but still falls way short of being a really great expansion pack. As other reviewers have noted, you can't integrate Late Night with your old suburban sim families. Unlike the Sims 2, suburban sims can't go out for a night on the town, and as far as I can tell other than the new hair/outfit styles, have nothing at all to do with night life. This drastically limits my interest in this, as I have a largely developed town with multiple generations which I would've liked to play with in Late Night, at least somewhat. Also, you can't have more than one family in an apartment. After you've gone to the bars, and reached max celebrity status (which takes about an hour), there's not much left if you aren't interested in vampires (I always wished they would keep the magic stuff as a separate expansion, as they did with the first Sims, so us Sims realists could keep it normal). The band thing is kind of cool, but again, not enough to keep my interest for more than one gaming session. Also I've had about 3 crashes with about 5 hours of playtime, which actually for new Sims 3 expansion packs isn't that bad. Overall, it's cool and the new city is really well laid out, but the new activities just aren't exciting enough. Ambitions is still the best expansion pack so far. Now, if they would just get around to doing the important expansions like pets and seasons, I'd be stoked!

I finally got the Sims 2 running on my PC. I gave the DVD to a friend
to try on his computer & he was able to get it installed & running
without a problem. So I took my PC to his house & he tried putting my
DVD drive on his PC--the game wouldn't work. He put his DVD drive in
my PC--the game worked. So now I have a new DVD drive in my PC and
I'm able to play the game!
So where is the best site to get realistic default skins for the game,
as well as a no-censor patch? And how about programs for managing
downloads & such?
I'm planning on upgrading my video card now that I know for certain I
can play the game. I've already asked that question in this forum so
I don't need help with that one.
Thanks.
